The Constitution for the governance of the
Virtual Global Nation

Introduction

We the People of the Virtual Global Nation, in order to form a framework that promotes peace, plenitude and possibility and the harmonious existence of the individual and of human species as well as other species, including  sentient and non-sentient life and the circle of life upon which we all depend provide this framework as a foundation stone for our growth and peaceful coexistence.

Goals of framework

That within the goals of peace, plenitude and possibility are these higher goals, and principles that are the building blocks of, self-determination, self-emancipation, accountability, transparency, definition of scope of influence, a foundation for existential rights, the greater good, a sustainable future,  global tranquility, the general welfare, a common defense for this framework and the blessings of freedom and  liberty for ourselves and posterity.

Achieving Citizenship

That citizenship in this global nation is ascended to by choice and non-exclusionary membership. That all peoples of the earth may be citizens of this nation.
That this assurance shall extend to every race, color, sexual orientation, economic class and every pocket of the global sphere, in order that we might insure the aforementioned goals.

Urgency, necessity call to action

In centuries past, the impact of people's use of resources on the planet was virtually negligible compared to what it is today.  Today, the impact is so serious that species are becoming extinct at alarming rates, pollution threatens food supplies and the health and safety of virtually all species including ourselves. The very future of the planet may be threatened by effects of climate change, nuclear war, biological warfare, data security, and other acts.

 
That we have come to a place where it has become possible to adopt a global framework to address global issues as individual stakeholders, and local issues by drawing on global wisdom, knowledge and experience.  Issues like climate change, genetic manipulation, data security, education and literacy, poverty and food supply, energy availability and more beg the question of necessity and call each one of us to act.

Timely global action must be taken in order to develop a new approach to decisions. New technologies, new paradigms and economic models that support transformational growth – and a recognition of both individual and species wide rights -- are required.

The VGN model was formed to provide a platform that can draw on the power of discovery and political will, coupled with definable means of action to effect positive change.

Stakeholders and representation

Today’s technology has rendered it possible for one or a few individuals to take actions that have global consequences. Decisions are now made by governing bodies and multi-national corporations that may not be accountable to any electorate. The economic power of a corporation can dwarf a country’s economic GDP, but its directors are nevertheless free to make decisions outside the confines of any national or international laws. This is an inherently dangerous situation.

As a result, people the world over increasingly have no voice in decisions that affect their lives on a daily basis. Yet they are stakeholders in the well being of the planet where they live and are affected by decisions relating to pollution, resource consumption, and genomics policy, just to mention a few. On one level the VGN Constitution is about providing a platform for people’s voices to be heard. On the other hand it is about empowering people to make sense of information in such a way as to provide the foundation for informed consent, consensus building, consent building, and an inclusive democratic model of decision-making. This combined with the tools for positive proactive action present a means to achieve these goals.

The VGN is about providing the tools and instruments to leverage global knowledge, wisdom and experience. That we can establish these frameworks and standards as vehicles for a combined global effort, and an aggregated pool of resources with two modalities in mind to create a global over arching framework that becomes a gathering place and a mechanism for empowering the people across the globe with tools, instruments to bring positive change both locally and globally by providing platforms and frameworks to achieve the aforementioned goals through problem solving, individual and collaborative action.

Vehicles for action empowerment

This constitution is set forth, and has as its central goal that of the common good. These ideals presented here are the foundation for a governance body that share orchestrate on behalf of its people, global citizens, a model that supersedes the barriers often presented by national boundaries, geography, communications, and a common standard of indigenous governmental bodies.
But rather that it works in the capacities forthwith of maintaining the common peace, prosperity and plenitude in working with countries and local bodies to achieve the common good.
